Fernie's location in the heart of the Rockies allows nature watchers and hikng enthusiasts of all abilities to enjoy a truly memorable vacation. There are vast miles of marked trails ranging from easy 30 minute jaunts through to ridge walks and day long hikes in the true backcountry.
There are a host of other group type activities that make the lodge and Fernie a great choice. We have excellent white water rafting, river floating for the family, cliff jumping, a great local aquatic centre with water slides, family pool, large hot tub, steam room and lane pool, a community ice rink and curling rink (Sep to May only).
With its myriad of trails right outside the door, not to mention the surrounding area, Elk View Lodge is the perfect home base to come and connect with nature. The secluded woodland setting and awe-inspiring scenery are so conducive to hiking, you'd think the 2 were made for each other! From beginner to expert trails, from a one hour walk to a 9 hour hike, we have it all for your enjoyment!
And at the end of your day, to come to the Elk View Lodge and relax on the outdoor decks and have a barbecue and watch the sun go down, what could be more perfect? Who knows? You may even see some wildlife walking right outside your door to round out the experience!
Over the years we have spotted elk, brown and black bears, and a whole range of hummingbirds and eagles.
